FAQ
Welcome to our FAQ page, here you can find common questions amongst our users about our site, the series we talk about, and other general questions that come our way repeatedly about us personally or our services.
What is dothack? (.hack)
.hack (or Project .hack) is a multimedia franchise primarily created by Bandai. The series encompasses two chapters of games for the PlayStation 2 console, at least four anime series and several manga series, as well as novels mangas or graphic novels if you want to get technical.
What is Integral? (.hack//Integral)
Integral is a fan site based on an anime and videogame series known as dot hack. There are various series per the anime home entertainment, videogame consoles, the trading card game, and publicized books. Mostly Integral is known for the use of turning our message board into a well written extensive role-playing game involving players from around the world familiar in the terminology of dothack into a live publicated board managed by the staff members.
Who currently runs and manages Integral?
For the most part, the administrators at the forums run the majority of all things Integral; therefore if you wish to contact someone who operates and manages Integral, try getting a hold of one of them on the board or even in the chatroom for support.
Who does your programming and scripting?
At this time, Edan is the one in charge when it comes to scripting and coding everything there is on the net when it comes to Integral.
What websoftware and markup do you use?
We use a wide spectrum of web software when it comes to our web sites and message board. For starters this present site uses Wordpress, our former homepage used Drupal a free open source CMS. On the forums we previously used phpBB but at present we use Invision Powered a licensed BBS. On the wiki we used MediaWiki a client originally used to create Wikipedia. On the old webring we use Orca a discontinued webring manager. And for the previous gallery which was an addon component for the Invision Powered Board which required an additional license to operate, but our new gallery now uses ImageVue a flash powered gallery system requiring a license to operate.
I posted an image from your site on another, it does not show up?
Well of course it does not show up, that is called hotlinking, and we have installed a system called hotlink prevention. It prevents you from abusing our site and services by being lazy and not hosting an image yourself or posting a direct link to a file in attempts to display it for your use elsewhere when you should just link the URL address. We will not take our hotlink prevention down for any reasons, but your free to save the image and upload to photobucket or just post the link to the image without image BBcode/HTML tags and just as a regular link on the place your trying to use it at.
May I use some of your content and images?
Our images in our gallery are of course free for your personal use, however the images in the fan art gallery are not and require the consent of the artists who created them. We make no claims towards the dothack series and franchise and all works are of course of the rightful developers and publishers. We merely wanted to make it easier for the viewers to discover such a wonderful collection of images.
However, our sprite staff has worked ever so diligently and proudly on their dynamic avatars that we call Character Models. These are the interactive and dynamic sprites that you can go and create your own avatar out of. Our Character Models are the product of the sprite team therefore these fall under the exclusive rights federal law restrictions. Use of these images are not permitted for any reasons and are property of Integral.
Can I link to your site?
Of course! goto our links page for details.
I can not access anything on site whatsoever!
If you encounter times, obviously not at this time, when you ca ot access anything that uses dothack.org as the domain name, chances are you are being afflicted by one of many things; your ISP has blocked the domain because hack is in the domain name, your school network administrator has placed a ban on the site because hack again is in the domain name, you upgraded to a more advance firewall and is being picky with the word hack in the domain name, or your region has no properly synchronized the DNS yet. For whatever the reasons may be, you are not down yet. Thanks through the use of proxy sites, you can access Integral by connecting through elsewhere from your own computer. Goto www.proxy.org and select any proxy site from their list and enter www.dothack.org to gain access to Integral!
How can I access the chatroom?
Firefox and Internet Explorer
Do not have Firefox? Download: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/
The GameSurge website page uses JAVA, so ensure you have the latest version of JAVA installed from java.sun.com, then goto http://www.gamesurge.net/chat/integral page to be prompted with their pjirc applet which you wil need to approve if using any firewalls or winxp firewall. And once you get loaded, you should instantly be in the main chat, then change your name by using the /nick command.
Opera Internet Browser
Do not have Opera? Download: http://www.opera.com/
Because the Opera Web Browser has IRC chat integrated into its system, one may simply follow an IRC address (using the IRC protocol, for example: irc://irc.gamesurge.net/integral). Opera will recognize this immediately as IRC and prompt you to create a chat account if one does not exist already. There is nothing wrong with this, but it would be easier to create an account going through the menu interface, and tweaking the settings via editing the accounts properties once created, that way everything is on the up and up. Here is a crash course, provided by Tabris, on all the available fields for each tab and what you will want in them to make sure you have everything set up correctly.

If you have any questions about how to connect to the chatroom, then I suggest you prompt a question over at the forums.
I can not access the chatroom!
If you are encountering errors with more than one of the means to log onto our chatroom, chances are connection with the IRC network is blocked on your computer. Your firewall and or anti virus software may have blocked port 6667 being accessed from your computer. You should try port-forwarding the connection or disable your firewall just for the application only.
Setting up Port-Forwarding is easy, all you need to do is follow these steps to open up the ports to allow access to the networks. If you are using a router to access the internet, in this day in age most people do, the first step would be to determine which router you have. Do note there is a difference between router and modem/surfboard, directly from the wall of your house your internet comes in and most cases connects to a little box which is the modem or surfboard, then which a cable connects to another box that has multiple plugs going out of this one and sometimes antennas. The only other alternative to this is if your computer connects directly to the wall of your house, there is no router, or your router and modem/surfboard are a two-in-one combination which are pretty expensive. As said most cases in modern days, everyone has some sort of broadband connection which connects a telephone or coax cable line into a box then an ethernet cable to a router, then another ethernet cable or a wireless antenna connection to your computer.
For this step, look at your router box, see what brand name it says on it and what version, the most common names you will see are linksys, belkin, dlink, and netgear. The version may be on the top, the bottom, or the front plate with the lights of the box so look thoroughly. Once you have done that, find your brand and version on this list of routers.
After you have selected the right one, you will immediately be taken to the chapter of their site with step by step directions on how to port-forward your router to open up the ports for your IRC chatroom connection. The program listed on this chapter is irrelevant as all the IRC chat rooms of any program use these same ports, more commonly 6667-to-6667 as mentioned above.
I have been banned, now what?
You have been banned? Well that is a shame, but what do you expect when you directly disregard the rules we setup that you agreed to the moment you clicked I accept the terms while registering? It happens to everyone one point in their online lives, all you can do is wipe your tears and lick your wounds and get on with you life. But fear not, in time we do un-ban those who were banned after a set period of time. But do not expect it within a weeks time, trust me when I say do not hold your breath then.
How can I work for Integral?
Our golden rule on our forums is do not ask us, we will ask you as we believe it is better to be selected by example, not through begging and unnecessary requesting. A good way we select new staff members is by observing the users on our forum community, this is a good way to get noticed. We examine their contribution, participation, activity with others, mannerism, knowledge of the rules and avoiding getting warned, and people skills.
How do I make a post on your wiki site?
First you must create an account on our forums, then once you validated your account, you can goto our wiki site and log into the wiki site using your forums username and password.
Where can I find downloads, torrents, fansubs, scanlations of… ?
You can easily find them on Google.com foo! Not here at Integral, links to any pirated and licensed material is strictly forbidden.
