Well it seems in my attempts to install this CMS, my changes in the server's configuration had somewhat caused a kinker to other installations on the server, like for instance the forums. Well that's all good and fixed now after setting things back, then forcing a hard restart on the dedicated server's operations for the HTTP apache server and the MySQL server just incase any operations were being called at the moment.
So far I like the way things are coming on the new website front, it'll help direct newcomers where to go that we have to offer. Right up at the top you'll see all the services we have to offer here. Though even in each service there are many other opportunities well within, especially on the forums.
The forums, what can I say, I made the forum out to be the main focus of Integral. Back in the day I worked tirelessly in building something new and unique for the dothack community. My main goal at the time was to provide an interactive RPG System on the web that people can access from any computer, require no installations, available for all browsers, and the only thing required is to make a forum account which too would be linked to join in on the fun with everyone. And I did just that, though back then that was pretty much there was to offer throughout the entire dothack community. Many sites had their text role-play's all elaborated out in multiple threads, we did the same but wanted to mix things up and create a level curve by using the RPG as the basis and limitations in which the players could have access to when it came to text role-playing. By which what level your character was in the RPG was your level in the rp, what items you held were the items oyu had in the rp, what battles you won and lost were the outcomes you had to rp out, and the likes.
Though in my rush to provide a creative community and with all the high demands and activity, I got careless. Along the lines of the many updates and changes I may of overlooked a few things and left numerous exploits in my endeavors. What was once the fruit of my passion and knowledge, quickly became potentially unstable and people did take advantage of things and not to mention all the excess quieres it would use and the consumption of the server's CPU and memory, bandwidth was never an issue though surprisingly. Users began abusing the exploits and giving themselves whatever they wanted in terms of the Character Models, in terms of the RPG, and those well versed in the ways of markup and scripting even made updated their accounts to administrators and began threats by purging the history of our forums through mass deletion. This was something I didn't know where could be at fault but wasn't surprised by the fact, but also I didn't have the time and availability to go and correct. So in the end I backed up everything and purged everything then restarted afresh on Invision Powered.
Invision Powered had much of the changes I did on phpBB in terms of forum features and flexibility in a default installation. Therefore this became the front for the new forums and luckily there was a phpBB to IPB converter that I had discovered and quickly transferred all the old post data and user data onto the new BBS. Fortunately we were able to get a new RPG System for this forum much like the last but built entirely different and doesn't offer the same features and flexibility as the last. Right now myself and the other administrators had found a new team of game masters to go in and fill up the new RPG System. However this time around we are planning to release the entire system once we have a good foundation of accessibility for the users to venture into unlike the last where we literally made things up as we went along.
So far things look very promising, right now we're building up as much as we can and yet at the same time doing extensive researching and testing all the while waiting for the next stable release to come out to update to in which will greatly improve the already on going progress we're making. So here's hopeing to another golden age of Integral!
