I can't access the chatroom!

If you are encountering errors with more than one of the means to log onto our chatroom, chances are connection with the IRC network is blocked on your computer. Your firewall and or anti virus software may have blocked port 6667 being accessed from your computer. You should try port-forwarding the connection or disable your firewall just for the application only.

Setting up Port-Forwarding is easy, all you need to do is follow these steps to open up the ports to allow access to the networks. If you are using a router to access the internet, in this day in age most people do, the first step would be to determine which router you have. Do note there is a difference between router and modem/surfboard, directly from the wall of your house your internet comes in and most cases connects to a little box which is the modem or surfboard, then which a cable connects to another box that has multiple plugs going out of this one and sometimes antennas. The only other alternative to this is if your computer connects directly to the wall of your house, there is no router, or your router and modem/surfboard are a two-in-one combination which are pretty expensive. As said most cases in modern days, everyone has some sort of broadband connection which connects a telephone or coax cable line into a box then an ethernet cable to a router, then another ethernet cable or a wireless antenna connection to your computer.

For this step, look at your router box, see what brand name it says on it and what version, the most common names you will see are linksys, belkin, dlink, and netgear. The version may be on the top, the bottom, or the front plate with the lights of the box so look thoroughly. Once you've done that, find your brand and version on this list of routers.

After you've selected the right one, you will immediately be taken to the chapter of their site with step by step directions on how to port-forward your router to open up the ports for your IRC chatroom connection. The program listed on this chapter is irrelevant as all the IRC chat rooms of any program use these same ports, more commonly 6667-to-6667 as mentioned above.
