  1. Liminality was the OVA for the first generation of the dothack franchise that was included with the original PS2 games. Each game had included 1 DVD each for each of the 4 episodes of .hack//LIMINALITY that coincided with the game's timeline. This was the real world account of events while you played the PS2 video game, each involving a party directly tied to the in game characters and events that were occurring at that time. These director scripts were provided by the late Kevin Seymour who oversaw the western localization of these episodes while working with and along side ZRO Limit Productions, Animaze..iNC, and in communication with Bandai America. Those who handled Kevin's estate sold off various director scripts including the four episodes of Liminality and the four PS2 games for .hack//Infection, Mutation, Outbreak, and Quarantine. Thanks to a generous donation from Gemcrim from the community, we were able to purchase one of the set of scripts from the estate sale. So what is the importance of these director scripts? First hand we see the original translations from Japanese to English, then we see what steps they were thinking in terms of timing and video editing to make the dialogue match the duration of the lips animation moving (to avoid an original Godzilla dubbing out of sync), we also get to use which voice actors were used for some of the extra's, and the communications shared between each studio that took place throughout this whole process. This is a piece of dothack history, localization history, and a time period of the early 2000's standard dubbing practices. Take what you wish from these scans and notes, we are releasing them as-is with the only redactions of peoples phone numbers, physical addresses, e-mail addresses, and other personal and private information. Introducing the Area Server This copy of the Area Server is completely translated and fully usable and ready to connect to the Netslum Lobby. This program will allow you to host your own area server so you can play with your friends. Because it has already been run and unlocked via Disc Authentication, there's no need to do that yourself. Just make sure you port forward. In your router, log in and go to the port forwarding section, forward the TCP/UDP port 20000 in start and end. In these new releases, OLD saved files do not carry over. You will have to start back at level 1. A big thank you to Vi and Alice for providing the translated words for Monsters, Keywords, Items, Weapons, and Armor that would normally have been incredibly tedious to gather. Without their spreadsheets of the infinite cosmos I would be working on this for months like I had the last time!

  5. Last November we at DHN wanted to host a community programming day where you the community would put your skills to the test and create the best fan dothack game. But to many people's disinterest in performing such a difficult task and many people questioning their graphic and programming skills, we sought a way to balance the field so that everyone could participate. Rather than the community sit and write code or sit and draw, we discovered an easier method. What if we provided the programs you could use and you would focus more on the storytelling. And thus the genre Text Adventure Game was the best platform to allow everyone the chance to participate. A text adventure game, for those unfamiliar does not use graphics whatsoever. It works like a Choose Your Own Adventure books, where everything is predetermined but the reader, in this case the player's choice would determine different outcomes of success or failure. The player is given a text prompt and makes a choice when the narrative needs a player to interact, or the player can move around and select options based on words and actions. If anyone may have been fortunate to play, a real life example of a game that is best known for this would be Zork. The programs you may choose for this challenge are Inform 7, Twine, Quest, or ADRIFT. You will want to read on the features each program has to offer best suited for your needs, i.e. some can be created on a web page without having to install any software, others allow easier navigation for branching results. Whichever option you choose is acceptable, you may even use any other software not mentioned here. So long as the community can download and play your game. The last rule and most important rule to this challenge is that it must be dothack related. Whether you decide to use existing dothack characters in a new story, or using the canon characters to retell the same story for those who were unable to play the games, or if you wish to create your own original characters that exist in The World franchise is acceptable. Which version of The World is up to you, the original, The World R:2 from the .hack//GU games, The World R:X from .hack//LINK, or The World FORCE:ERA from the movie .hack//Beyond the World. Character classes should be mentioned or made apparent, use of friendly creatures like Grunty's and ChimChim's are also encouraged, and of course monsters! While pulling out your notebook or notepad writing ideas, you should consider the following: protagonists, antagonist, supporting characters, a conflict, a solution, and a resolution. Be sure to consider other literary tools like themes and tones. And of course, be sure to share your works when you finished. Make sure to tag us @dothacknetwork on social media when you wish to share your work. And on September 13th 2019 aka International Programmers Day, we will pick an entry as the winner of 2019's Make Your Own Dothack Game challenge!

  6. Went this year as Helba, while my friends posed as the Ginyu force (they won a prize!) The costume is home made, took several weeks and almost 200 € but I still had to rush at the end x_x. I find it funny that there is a bag in this pic that is not ours but it seems just as confused to be there

I created the chimchim computer mouse cursor with the help of Erroneous in resizing it. My idea was to make the official CC2 chimchim emote into a cursor. So (without all the failed attempts) what happened was this: I tilted the emote 45 degrees to the left, and Erroneous enlarged it by 300px from its original 200px, so now its 500px. Also there's two versions, the 500px and the 600px, the 600px is just slightly larger than the 500px. Instructions: Download the .zip file then unzip it. To apply the chimchim cursor into a Windows 10 computer go into mouse options, advanced mouse options, pointers, then hit the browse button, find and click the "chim500px.cur" or the "chim600px.cur" file depending on what size you want, then apply it. Congrats, your cursor is now a mini chimchim, cool right?

  13. Correct! There was two versions of the CT table made, one for vanilla unmodified straight from the PS2 disc .hack//fragment, and the last one Team Coldbird ever made back in 2013. If I were to make one for the latest patch, I would have to remake a new one every single time they have a new update, and that would be very confusing for most people because there's only 1 patcher now (used to be two) and the locations changes. That doesn't mean you can't use CheatEngine and find the values yourself, simply enter your current EXP, kill a monster, whatever the EXP you get, add that to your previous EXP and search, and it should narrow down easily.

So here they are again, just print and cut out the grey areas and you'll have yourself an awesome template for your pumpkin carving woes. With time and practice, viola! See you guys next year!

  19. Lately I've been getting myself ramped up to play thru the entire IMOQ. I stopped because of difficulties with what I had to record the footage with. If I can't do it right I won't do it at all. I resumed because of my new PC and Nvidia's streaming ability. I don't have to worry about how large the file is because it gets uploaded directly to youtube due to the stream. I finished INFECTION some yrs ago and that's already there. Each volume will mostly be split into many 25-35 minute vids divided into playlists. As of Volume 2 I started recording in 1080p. If you are a huge fan of the original Quadrilogy and would like to watch the whole thing then allow me to be your guide! I do plan on doing the extra quests. I'll leave links to the playlists I've completed or are working on. So far Infection is done but Mutation is ongoing and I'm continuing now. I do not talk during my playthrus. It is entirely silent save for the game itself. I don't like disrupting the flow of the game INFECTION MUTATION OUTBREAK

  20. Heya hiya! I'm Pekoe/Pecho from the Discord server. I'm a 28 year old grill from Michigan who works as a Starbucks barista and loves anime & video games, k-pop, boba/bubble tea and bunnies! I'm currently going through a massive .hack nostalgia phase... I've been a huge fan since SIGN and IMOQ came out in the US all those years ago 🥺 I used to be a part of a few .hack communities online but they've been dissolved for years... I hope this one will stick around because I really really miss talking about this series! I even made a Free Company on FFXIV's Balmung server called 'Twilight Knights' in the hopes of finding other fans, but... the fandom has seen better days 😔😔 I also do art on the side! Visit my gallery if you're interested in checking out my art! 🥰

  21. Most of the efforts of this community in general was posted and focused strictly on Facebook where we began in Nov 2012. As time passes, the restrictions and limitations of Facebook became apparent and problematic. We were news and a hub of information and directory of other dothack communities out there.. remaining. We needed a means to preserve the old and remaining sites and hosted our own site that had archived pages of other dothack communities. In addition we needed organization for files we hosted that are still downloaded today i.e. the English fragment area server and the lobby checker. As for activity and participation, we had started a Facebook Group that allowed members to contribute discussions and information. But it was cluttered and easy to loose discussions with those that ranked higher. As time passed again, Facebook became the center of many controversies. Some snowballed slowly while others more quickly and then the #deletefacebook trend happened. During these times of minor and major mishaps with the Facebook platform, we revived our messenger community from the dead Skype group to the trending Discord chat. There we had the ability to categorize sections and group people based on their needs. Forums are not as successful compared to social media networks and platforms or on messenger apps, so it's quite hard to bring back people to a forum like this and stay engaged compared to Facebook, Twitter, Reddit or Skype, Discord, Telegram and the like.

I plan on continuing to upgrade this costume for the next convention I go to as well, I eventually want to have a really high quality spear of wotan.

  32. Hello, I'm new in the world, so be gentle. I discover hack with hack sign there is few years but I did not know that the hack universe was so big (I didn't understand anything when i watch it XD). But i am seriously interested in hack universe after my discover of the game hack GU on PS4. I follow youtube channel of Rekka Alexiel because i'm fan ok work of yoko taro and i follow her for had info on nier automata. And she made me discover this remake of hack. I watch hack root during the wait of the shipment and i currently play the game (i'm in the volume 1). I just bought hack cell, hack GU in novel (just the tome 1 for the moment), the ost of hack sign, the box of hack sign with 5 figures. I am a newbie but i have the sensation that this serie is for me. I'm just sad that i can't play the first quadrilogie because i don't have ps2. You advise me to wait for the a remake or buy them on ps2 ? I hesitate buy a ps2 just for this games...(and drakengard 1) I can't understant all the magnificience of hack serie if i don't play has all the games. Don't PK me please.

  34. Aloha @Azar0n! I highly believe CC2 and BandaiNamco won't remaster or remake the IMOQ quadrilogy so your best bet is to play them on the PS2. The 4th will prove to be rare and expensive, so you may have to play it through "alternative" means sadly.

  42. Hello! This is my first time actually becoming a member of a completely .hack dedicated forum, this is really cool so far! I'm known by Ars on almost every corner of the net and talk .hack whenever the opportunity comes up. Unfortunately, I don't have any really recent .hack art, but I think with the upcoming release of //Last Recode, there'll be more in the future. The most I usually do is roleplay; I have a healthy muse for Balmung from the first four games that I use often (and even keep a RP blog for him that's been up for a few years.) I have a couple of friends that talked about this site before, and I thought it'd be fun to try out! It's nice to finally have an outlet for .hack that's never really been there before.
