For those who haven't played .hack//fragment since 2005, I'm here to inform you that the game has two modes to choose at the start of the game, Off-line and On-line. In Online mode you connect to the internet and play with friends with one of 3 characters you made during character creation. You can log out and switch characters as you like. And then you use that character to join up to 2 other online players and grind fields/dungeons for epic sweet loot. In Offline mode however, you play the game single player obviously, but you do get 2 NPC's you can add to your party. The "story mode" of the Offline game portion of Fragment is basically collecting the Member Address of NPC characters to join your party. These characters much like from .hack//Infection Mutation Outbreak and Quarantine are the same ones, plus the ones you got at the end that were from the anime .hack//SIGN. This offline story mode is just logging in and getting Bear and BT's member address immediately as they explain to you how to play The World. And immediately goes right into the next character unlocks. The first few NPC's basically explain different portions of how to play the game and after awhile it becomes more of running gags and people testing your might at completing dungeons. As you move along you will acquire Data Drain, foods for Grunty's, different root towns, Grunty's, and more member addresses to use for your party. Each party member you get will have their own level's and experience points. The ones you acquire at the start will be around level 15 whereas the ones later will be around level 75, and the very last one will have level 99. The characters you unlock are in this order, some you get together as a couple, much like Bear and BT at the start. This is a modified version of the Area Server program published for free by Bandai. This version allows multiple instances of the executable file as long as you change the port address in the profile.ini for each multi-instance you wish to run. Default port address is 20000, this needs to be portforward through your router and firewall. Other features include English translation, pre-authenticated, and connects with the current Lobby Server IP address. There is only 1 central lobby server, and only 1 is necessary. This is the main hub for fragment, however people don't play on the lobby server, they play on player hosted area servers. These are where players actually meet up and play together on in groups of up to 3 per area server. Which makes hosting an abundant of area servers necessary for people; because is there's high demand of players online at a given time wanting to play but no supply of area servers to play on, then playing would be impossible. So how do you host an area server? First you will need the Area Server program itself, and a Windows PC or Windows emulated computer There is many iterations both official and unofficial for the area server program, i.e. the original 5 Japanese ones which point to the old server, the translated one, the multi-server one, etc... I recommend this one Download the zip, extract the file/folders somewhere on your computer, run the AREA_SERVER.exe file Start with map editor go to File choose New Area give it a name and a "symbol" can be whatever you want, I just abbreviate but whatever the root town will be the root town all players will see when they enter your Area Server, they can not change, only you can from this program hit OK, and you can start making new keywords and custom maps if you want, but entirely up to you the root town shops are static to whatever root town you pick the keywords dictate monsters and whatnot, click on Word Editor and you'll get tabs like this use existing keywords or click on "Add" to create new words, whenever your pick A B C here, Result will unlock whatever you do, be sure to Save pick a slot from 0 to 100; you can create more than 1 area server, but you can only run 1 area server per .exe; you can make more copies from the ZIP file link above and host as many area servers you want you can pick a random number and press save after you make an "area server" in the Area Server program and saved, go to the Area Server icon click on Area, then click on Publish Area Server select from the list of saved area servers and click publish you'll see a bunch of messages on screen, and in the message window box; if all goes well you should see "area server is now open" this is 50% of the work the other 50% is port-forwarding your computer/router without doing that, no one can join your area server it'll just be listed but inaccessible without port-forwarding it depends on what is in profile.ini; and if you host more than one area server, you'll want to change the port in each file to be different; between 20000 to 20100 if all goes well your area server will be listed then the area server program will say "a player is joining" you can see their HP/SP live, but you can not edit the values you can even see all players on the current map; people can't wander off to different maps, everyone is limited to 1 even on the field map and if they die, they will be booted back to the root town

fragment-shortcut-overlay Brings up an over lay to show what your short cuts are in game. This currently supports all versions of the retail game and both single player and multi player. Takes your English .hack//Infection Mutation Outbreak Quarantine FOOD_E.BIN file and replaces the default Japanese audio for grunty food voices on the .hack//fragment PS2 disc. And the final boss in the storyline mode is.... ラストサムライ (The Last Samurai) As the name implies it does have a samurai design to it. Golden color and undead look. Here's it's full body appearance. If you were to load it in StudioCCS, a program for viewing models from .hack video games, it looks mangled and twisted until you unravel it manually. You can get around this by loading this .bin file to load a modified bone structure that I've setup. LastSamurai.bin

This is my custom made CT tables for Cheat Engine to be used with a vanilla/unmodified copy of .hack//fragment on PCSX2. Load up PCSX2 and run the game like normal Load up Cheat Engine, click File > Open Process, choose PCSX2; there will be two, either works. Open the file from this download extension .ct Go into OFFLINE Mode, do not use these while playing in ONLINE Mode, don't worry, your character data will transfer over fine between Offline/Online. Get into The World and go to the root town. In the Cheat Engine screen, click on the value for "Your EXP", whatever your current EXP is will be here, give yourself 1000 and press enter. Your character will have just leveled up by +1. You can change 1000 to whatever you want, note that each level is 1000, so giving yourself 15000 will make your level 1 character, level 16. Do not exceed 27000, the game ignores certain larger values after 27,000 but you can repeat process till you get to level 99 The same can be done with your offline NPC's on your party, but they must be in your party to work. Also you can change your GP, or gold points, in the game. Good luck have fun!-

What is Twitch Plays .hack//fragment? In 2014 a social experiment called Twitch Plays Pokemon was where a 24/7 live stream of Pokemon Red was streaming where the viewers in the Twitch chat could control and move the main character around by saying certain words in chat. A program interrupter listened for those specific words/commands and proceeded to play the game on the emulator by moving or performing the actions of the whitelisted words. What I have setup, is PCSX2 on an old Windows 10 machine, running the English patched .hack//fragment connected to the new online lobby server service currently available with a Python/Javascript interrupter running coincide with PCSX2 which listens to the channel dothacknetwork's twitch chat for certain complete standalone words/letters and moves the character accordingly to the mapped out key controls. Up being up, down being down, T being triangle, X being X, L1 being L1, etc... There is however a delay from the input sent to Twitch by us the viewers, and the interrupter/PCSX2 performing the action and the livestream software OBS sending to the stream the final action. If you do not want to setup yourself your own PCSX2 and translated/patched .hack//fragment, this is an option to get your feet wet and try out the game from any device that can connect to Twitch.tv i.e. desktop computer, tablet, smart phone, etc... Control whitelist is on screen on the bottom right, chat commands will appear in stream in the upper left.

If you ever used Cheat Engine, a program you can use that allows you to modify values in programs and games, then you should be aware that you can use Cheat Engine to modify nearly all values in the game. Not knowing what you are doing can be quite dangerous, so you should have some basic understanding on what this tool does before you jump right in. For starters, you use this tool to select a program/game to focus on, and it allows you to search for information that the selected program/game is running in the background. So if a program/game is running some values or storing some values, you can search, add your address to a list of tables, and then modify the value stored. Let's say for example in .hack//Fragment you start out with 1,000 Gold Points, and you want to change that to like 999,999. Well you can, just like that. But what you might not know is trying to find that number when and where in the game, could be like finding an earring in a desert. Luckily I have saved my values found for .hack//fragment, however there is one caveat regarding my tables, they are different from modified version to version of the game. You'll be able to edit your GP (Gold Points) you own EXP gain (max always stays at 1000), and the EXP gain for all your NPC friends from the series .hack//Infection and .hack//SIGN. Whatever version of .hack//fragment you have, you can manually search for the EXP and GP quite easily if you follow along this video. The video above will work on any version, but the attached files below only specifically work on the versions in the file title i.e. Vanilla unmodified Japanese .hack//fragment. Fragment Vanilla.CT
