Looking around today I found more screenshots from Link, and I found myself asking... is that a naked chick!?!?!!? The site these were taken from can be found at Famitsu's site.
To find out more or discuss the possibility of that totally being a naked chick, please join our forums. Enjoy!
Many of you have been in the dark asking and wondering what is The World: NExT.
Is it an MMO? No.
Is it the name of the RPG? No.
Is it a whole new site? No.
The World: NExT simply means what the abbreviations mean, New Era of Twilight. The X was silent, or in this case used for a conjunction for the world of as NEOT would of sounded silly. The New Era of Twilight simply means we will be taking things to a bold new future, a parallel world that does not follow the rules and events of any of the dothack series and therein, the The World R1, R2, and RX. What this means is that our world takes place in any and all forms of The World R's. Bridging the gap between all systems into one, providing you with the resources and expectations of all universes, expanding your playing field to a million, and best of all giving you the option to play how you want to play with whom you want to play with.
You can now choose what class to become from any of the series, with the exception of a few non listed classes such as Werewolf, Adept Rogue, and Dual Gunners. Newly registered users will have the freedom of choosing which class to choose from. Oldbies and already registered users do not have the option of changing their classes in their profiles and must speak with an Amethyst Knight and request that their classes to be changed ONCE and only once. After your initial change should you choose to use it within the set period of 2 months availability, you will have to resort to participating in the NPC Class Changing based events. What this means is for you oldbies, you can speak with an AK for the next two months i.e April 13th and get your class changed once for free. New registered users do not have the option to change class after registration as they already may choose which class they want from the list. After April 13th, find and participate in an event that allows you to have your class changed again (when available).
Now The World: NExT not only comes with all the same flavors packed into one, but then some. You will have the option of choosing what race to be as. The same rules apply as the class rules, see above for more information.
Servers of R1 and R2 have been combined stripped of their symbols for easy identification. However a level requirement will be set into place within the week. See this announcement for the finalized list of requirements. However post requirements are no longer a requirement in the RP. As being combined into one section, the rules of gating in and out still apply to both styles of servers. So think of the two styles of servers as you would be playing in the regular R1 forum. All events that took place in The World R2 as stated at the creation of itself, will be cleared from history, it was as described a "what if scenario" and we are now in the present and witnessing a whole new world as is provided by our realm.
But this fictional and unheard of adaptation of all 3 worlds in a single time period would not be possible without the fictional addition of a new city known as Haragashi to further portay this is our own world that never existed within the dothack universe we are all familiar with. No longer are real world events taken place across our real world, but now in the fictional city of Haragrashi. The World the video game is hosted within the city, its workers who play as Knights and Game Masters or Administrators now have a place of residency and a headquarters to perform their jobs, users have a home and a school or job to attend to while not playing the game. And everyone is free to go out and leave to the neighboring towns and cities across what would be considered the world and then return back and participate in Haragashi.
And there you have it, the first steps into a bold new universe of The World: NExT. We hope you enjoy these changes in events to better suit your RP'ing and RPG'ing needs. May you bridge yourselves to newer heights and possibilities that you choose to endure.
To commemorate the new .hack game, a new section has been added to .hack.//Portal. Please anticipate a steady flow of information and media over the coming weeks. We will announce any new developments!
The latest issue of Famitsu has confirmation on the next video game episode long-running, but niche appealing .hack series from CyberConnect. .hack//LINK is making the jump from manga to the PSP in 2009.
In what we're guessing is an attempt to glom on to the success of Capcom's Monster Hunter Portable series, CyberConnect and (we're presuming) publisher Namco Bandai will move the series from the PlayStation 2 to the still-popular handheld.
Characters from the original .hack series and .hack//G.U. will return in .hack//LINK, which is still without a firm date.
While the .hack series has made a point of simulating a multiplayer experience offline, we wouldn't be surprised if Namco Bandai looks to the Monster Hunter formula for inspiration on how the new episode will play.

Well...I've been working on a 3D The World project for a few weeks now. Prior to this I would just building my skills so I could be successful. Up till now I've been programming mainly, and now I've started getting into the visual parts of the game. Such as models and textures. Now I have a bit to show for my work.
I've only been modeling for the game for the past 2 days. I'm always looking for more modelers, animators, and texturers. I've got the programming down though.
I've got some great fan art I've been working on for the past couple weeks. It's starting to turn out pretty damn good so far, but I need some more input. Let me know what you guys think.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-L1YMv3sM-I&fmt=18 - This is the latest video with a little fun happy music http://www.vimeo.com/theworld - This is the latest video and the older ones throughout my development
All I'm looking for is your thoughts and a little input on what you think I could do to make it better. As of now, it's just a direct copy, but once I finish it up some more, I'll be improving the models and texture quality to give it a more next-gen feel.
I have added a neat little function called a topsite listing. It does as the name implies, and displays the top websites in a ranking system when you sign up, and add the button-code given to you on the website pages you want ranked.
If you run a gaming/anime/.hack website, feel free to join and participate! It's fun, free, and easy, and is a simple way to get more known around the net. I am still tweaking with the design elements, and some alignment/size issues of tables, however everything should be working correctly.
Yes… 3D Screenshots… Sounds interesting?
Listen well then… You might like what you read.
To those that tried to do 3D Screenshots of PCSX2 using tools like 3D Ripper DX… you probably figured out that PCSX2 isn’t compatible with such tools… Easily explainable… Because PCSX2 flattens the whole stuff to a 2D Layer before forwarding it to the DX api…
This is where my plugin… currently in a internal alpha testing version… Jumps in…
It’s based on Gabest’s famous GSDX Plugin which supports both DX9 and for Vista users DX10…
I added my own code to it… which pipes the whole 3D Card Traffic into a 3D File…
Or summed up… 3D Screenshots!

Tokyopop has been busy! They have released a fantastic Special Edition of the first volumes for .hack//Legend of the Twilight, and .hack//Another Birth. This new title was released December 1st and can be purchased online at amazon for great prices. This Special Edition would be great for existing .hack fans, and anyone who wants to get into the .hack universe.

Many .hack fans know the mystery behind the name… a fictional MMORPG where the nature spirits gave the human race so-called waves to protect themselves and their cities against monsters…
But is it really that fictional?
Three different revisions based on two different concepts are currently being worked out by Altimit Corp. and Team A.U. - While one version is based entirely on a opensource engine, namely the famous Torque Engine, the other two revisions are based on eAthena & Ragnarok Online.
Both the Version based on Torque aswell as one of the two versions based on Ragnarok Online will revolve around the The World R1 setting, while the second Ragnarok Online based version will revolve around the R2 setting seen in GU games.
So what does this mean?
The World will become a reality… who knows… maybe sooner than we all believed at first…
To memorize this big step towards not only one, but three implementations of The World… Altimit Corp. and Team A.U. - using this blog as a headquarter for the The World Project - hereby start a partnership, to master the ordeals that await us together.
Greetings to all our readers,

As we were in need of a realtime 3D mapeditor… and Borf didn’t get back to my request of buying a copy off of him…
I had no other choice but to crack it to work on any computer…
Unlike other codings of mine, I won’t release this one to the public as I had to promise it to the “raw provider” (the person that leaked a protected beta copy to me).
I will hand out copies of this tool to mapping volunteers for our new “The World” Ragnarok Online Server though - of course only for personal use.
In advance… to make sure people who just wish to leak this tool from us stay away… I added my own protections to this tool… which allow me to easily deactivate and render shared copies useless.
For those that are serious and wish to help us build a “The World” Ragnarok Server…
Your job as mapper would be to recreate all of the “The World” areas… be it root towns, dungeons, lost grounds, etc…
If you’re interested. Contact me on the BBS or via Instant Messengers (You can look up my IM data in my BBS profile).

EDIT! The PTX2TGA Converter is now released and available.
Opensource as always. Here it is. Readme included.

Hello everyone. I know I’ve been pretty inactive on the BBS lately.
RL got me. Anyway… I’m still waiting for translation for Fragment… Just in case someone can help, read the Blog-Post right below this one.
That aside, I’ve started a little Mini-Hack, again for a PSP game… Sheesh… I should start a collection for hacks already so you guys can have a open view on them…
Anyway - Till now I’ve got… BGMs hacked - yeah - got all of them - even the hidden unused ones…
And parts of the Sprite-Format aswell… It uses 16×8 Pixel Blocks to save the [censored]… I really got no idea why each game has to have it’s own stupid Image-Format… anyway…
I will provide the needed tools to take a look yourself into this games’ files once I’ve finished a Image-Unpacker.
Greetings, the Administrator.
— R. D. Coldbird
The translation pretty much came to a halt lately. We need translators to move forward…
I’m begging each and every user capable of reading and translating japanese to english to support us.
To make it easier for everyone. I provided the HACK_01.ELF script file in this newspost.
Please refrain from using the old HACK_01.ELF scripts that are passed around in the BBS… The new scripts allow me to freely reimport translations without redoing the whole file…
And thus saves me a lot of effort to actually reimport your translations.
Help us moving forward. Thank you in advance.
— R. D. Coldbird
I decided that it was time to upgrade the layout of World of Visions…
To make a long story short, here it is. And it’s packed with a few new things…
You can now get “Globals“. You can request one if you’re affiliated with us, or buy one by donating 5$. Each 5$ you donate can prolong your Globals’ life by one month.
Hacking “Breakthroughs” are now displayed via the Featured Post display.
And that’s it again. Coldbird over and out. Peace.
Team name: Team Twilight Children *not a registered company, but on its way to becoming one* In cooperation with: Bad Sync Entertainment (Savage: Unearthly Wars - Online TGC) and Gamma Prime (providing us with scripting/coding resources and support)
Project name: MMORPG- Epitaph: The Twilight Children Online TCG - Savage Unearthly Wars Flash Anime - Age of Inception 3D Movie - .hack//Rebirth
Brief description: Epitaph: The Twilight Children (ETTC) is an MMORPG-in-development loosely based on .hack's "The World." in order to revive the slowly dying series. It is a full 3D project that started out as a small 2D game near the beginning of March 2008, but turned to a 3D approach near middle April and has been growing ever since. Savage: Unearthly Wars is a card game concept developed by Bad Sync Entertainment, with close ties to parent project, ETTC. It is slated to be an online TCG, and may hit offline as well. Age of Inception is a Flash-based anime project stemming from ETTC, which tells of events prior to the game's storyline. It has 4 40-minute episodes planned for release and voice casting is currently under way. .hack//Rebirth is a new child project ran by AzureSarios. It is a fully 3D animated movie. The team will combine a few elements of each project as a package deal to present to Bandai and CyberConnects2 in order to gain permission to release the games/anime for non-profit. Because everything from Team Twilight Children us created from scratch (no rips, copies, characters etc.), if it does get rejected to be released as non-profit, all that will be needed to change is the names.
Target aim: ETTC will remain free-to-play until further notice. Funding is gathered through donations as of now. Short Term: Produce an adequate amount of footage from the game/anime to advertise on Youtube and other various video sources. Put together a small but appealing package to present to Bandai and CyberConnect2. Long Term: Expanding into two more planned projects after the release of these, all original, for profit. Obtaining a game development headquarters possibly in Florida (already a work in progress).
Compensation: At this moment, every team member is working for FREE, purely to fulfill their game design passions and hone their skills so that they may work for the company in the future. However, all staff do get in-game benefits once the game is released. A possible option for payment should be available soon, as we are getting a satisfying amount of donations (a percentage will go into a bank to pay our staff ONLY when the game has made a release).
Technology: MMORPG is slated for release on most/all PC OS, also using game controller compatibility. Art Resources: GIMP, Photoshop CS3, Flash (all kinds), Drawing Tablets, any other media. Musick: FL Studio (main), others as well 3D: Blender, Sketchup, 3Ds Max Programming Languages: C++ (MMORPG/card game development), HTML/CSS, Flash for website/anime purposes
Talent needed: **Most individuals who work at Team Twilight Children are under the age of 17, but have a passion for developing skills by helping with the project. Therefore, we take ALL experience types, from those who want to learn from the ground up, to those who have many years and may want to aid in helping others learn in a friendly environment.**
3D Character Design/Animation (NEEDED GREATLY) Landscape/Object Design Monster Design/Animation (NEEDED GREATLY) **Individuals working in the 3D dept. will work closely with 2D concept artists and texture artists, taking the concepts/textures to build and texture models. They are also required to learn/use animation software to create the movements of models that will be performing action.**
2D Landscape Design (NEEDED GREATLY) - Will design the towns, landscapes, scenery in 2D so the 3D artists may have an easier time of creating environments for use in-game. Flash (NEEDED GREATLY) Anime - Will work with the style of the character designer to create fluid animated scenes for the Age of Inception Anime. These can be broken up into background artists/animators, character artist/animators, and those who will colour the animated images. Website - Will work with the layout design provided for the website to create the desired effect, so that the website will have a very professional look. Texture Artists (NEEDED GREATLY) - Works in Gimp and Photoshop to provide hi-quality textures to be places on the 3D models. We need textures of all kinds at the moment, from character to clothes to grass to metal. We already have a few models looking to be textured so hop aboard and help us start making these models look very nice.
Programmers Section Moderator (NEEDED GREATLY) - Expected to have at least 5+ years of C++ AND/OR HTML/CSS experience. You'll be in charge of making sure the programmers are working in sync and always have a projected goal to fulfill as well as answer questions they may have. C++ - To code the game using C++ programming so that all of the mechanics to run the game work correctly. You will basically be designing/tweaking the game's core so that others will be able to play it. C++ programmers are also needed to code Savage: Unearthly Wars. HTML/CSS - You'll be working with artists to maintain the web page and keep it neat and professional, as well as make sure all of the links work and are in order.
Writers Section Mod - Responsibilities include gathering the writing team to produce the text that will appear in-game, on the website, and in the anime script. One mod per section: Game, Website, Anime Anime Script (NEEDED GREATLY) - Will write out the dialogue that will be spoken by the voice actors. Anime Scenes (NEEDED GREATLY) - Will plan out actions that will be shown in the anime, event-wise, to be taken to a storyboard artist to be sketched out. Game Script (NEEDED GREATLY) - Will write out the finalized version of the back-story, all character and in-game system dialogue, spell names, weapon names, NPC names, etc. that will appear in-game. Translators (NEEDED GREATLY) - Will translate the various texts into many languages so everyone of any language can enjoy the experience. So far we have a few German and Japanese translators. More are always welcome.
Musick **All musick composers are welcome to provide a rich soundtrack, no matter how much experience you have, so we do not put a cap on musick production applications as of now.** SFX Producer (NEEDED GREATLY) - Responsibilities are to create very rich sound FX to be used in game: Running water, ambience, footsteps, etc. Only original creations please, no rips. Vocalists - Working with the other vocalists to provide a very nice sound for game/anime tracks requiring vocals. Back-up vocals especially needed (we have a few lead already, but if you have a strong/outstanding voice please apply). **We seem to be having a few problems with some submitting directly ripped soundtracks for use in-game, anime, etc. This is NOT tolerated. If we find that you didn't compose the musick yourself or if you are using a similar tune from an existing song, that it is thoroughly remixed, it will NOT be used.**
Support Team This team is responsible for advertisement, recruitment, welcoming, and general support (answering questions, etc.). Even if it seems like an unimportant task, we NEED you. Having this team work solely on such matters frees others up to work more on game production, so by all means if you are willing, sign up for this section. If you have a suggestion or question for another team position, please inquire in this thread. I'm very open to accepting any help in ANY area. The ones listed here are the ones that are HOT and IN DEMAND. So if you don't see a position you may fill, please ask for others, stating what it is you'd like to help with.

My apologies for the lack of updates and changes to the website, I am in the middle of re-vamping .hack//Portal, which means making it XHTML Valid, CSS Valid, and converting to a new, more functional look.
I anticipate this will all be complete within the next week, give or take. Once the new design is set and in place, I will resume with regular updates, new content, and even a few forum promotions which can win you a prize.
So why not get a head start and join up and engage in the awesome discussions we are already having on the forums!
Until then, enjoy what we already have to offer, and expect some nice changes around here in the next week!
Dear Users & Fans.
Due to the fusion with the Celes-Network, a Network administrated by my Team and I - I decided to fuse the Fragment Project into my very own private Blog which can be accessed at http://coldbird.celes-network.de .
The BBS also got closed and moved to the new host aswell.
All important data was ported over and I hope you all will be pleased with the new web-presence.
This Website - From now on - is on HIATUS and there will be no further edits or update to it.
For reference and information though this page will stay online and I hope that all people that are interested in the project will come over to the new place for new updates & information.
Sincerely, the Administrator.
— R. D. Coldbird
We are finally back after being offline for 3 weeks. There is a reason for this, of course. My host at the time had billing issues with his server, and as a result it was frozen. I didn't know how long I would have to wait, so I took matters into my own hands and resolved the problem in a matter of hours. I bought my own server, where I have control over my files 100%, and won't have any billing issues. It's good to be back!
We also are trying out a brand new news system, called Phpns. It's an open source PHP News System that I have stumbled upon, and since it's new, and is being updated on a regular basis, it's already superior to PHPNews, which hasn't been updated in... forever!
Please look forward to a new design, new features, more content, and more goodies.
The Blog has been upgraded with a PSP Frontend… when visiting the Blog using the Playstation Portables’s Webbrowser a 100%ly fitting easy to read design will be used in the stead of the highresolution template we are using for PC Access.
This is the first out of many planned PSP Interaction Upgrades we intend to apply to the ‘The World’ Project. In preparation for the development of “Eden”.
The World Administrator and Developer,
— Damian Coldbird
